What is Plastno?

Every product replaces a single-use plastic item with a plant-derived or mineral-based alternative for everyday cleaning at home.

What does the name Plastno mean?

Plastno means "no plastic." The name is a contraction of the brand's mission: replace single-use plastic cleaning products with plant-derived and mineral-based alternatives. Every product line, from the refillable Multi Cleaner spray to the compostable trash bags, exists to remove one plastic item from a household routine.

Where are you located?

Our main headquarters is in New York, where our creative hub and fulfillment center run. Products are designed in New York and manufactured in BSCI-certified factories in China for ethical labor and supply chain compliance.

Who founded Plastno?

Is Plastno a real brand or a marketplace?

Plastno is a founder-owned brand, not a marketplace or reseller. Every product on plastno.com is designed in-house and made in partnership with BSCI-certified manufacturing partners. We control the supply chain end-to-end, from material sourcing to packaging and shipping.

Is Plastno B Corp certified?

Not yet. Plastno is still a small founder-owned brand, and B Corp certification requires extensive operational documentation across workplace standards, supplier chains, governance structures, and impact measurement, work that's hard for a company at our current scale to maintain to B Corp's standards. We've focused on product-level certifications first, where we can substantiate specific measurable claims today: BPI and TUV OK Compost HOME on the trash bags, and Leaping Bunny on the Multi Cleaner tablets. B Corp isn't the right priority for where we are right now, but it's not off the table either. As the company grows and our internal systems mature, we plan to pursue it.

How is Plastno different from other eco-friendly cleaning brands?

Plastno exists because we got tired of squinting at "eco-friendly" labels that didn't hold up when you read the fine print. Most of what's marketed as sustainable cleaning is one good ingredient wrapped in a story.

So we built the brand we wanted to buy from. Every product gets the strongest certification it can legitimately earn, nothing more. Every claim has to be defensible at the product level, not stretched across the catalog. And every price has to be one a normal household can actually keep paying. That last part matters most. If sustainable cleaning costs three times the regular version, people quit, and nothing changes.

What does Plastno sell?

Plastno sells refillable Multi Cleaner spray bottles, mineral-based cleaning tablets that dissolve in water, biodegradable cellulose sponges (Scrub Sponge, Soak Sponge, Sponge Cloth, Sponge Towel), and home compostable trash bags. We also offer sets, bundles, and an annual Plastno Membership.

Where are your products made?

Plastno products are designed in New York and manufactured in BSCI-certified factories in China. BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) verifies ethical labor standards, including safe working conditions, fair pay, and no forced or child labor. Raw materials are sustainably sourced from responsibly managed plant and mineral suppliers.

What are the cleaning tablets made of?

Plastno cleaning tablets contain 8 ingredients: sodium carbonate, tartaric acid, sodium N-lauroylsarcosinate, sodium lauroyl glutamate, sodium benzoate, sodium chloride, sodium phytate, and glycerin. They are mineral-based, PVA-free, fragrance-free, and Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free. Each tablet dissolves in 16 oz of water to make one bottle of multi-surface spray.

Are the cleaning tablets PVA-free?

Yes. Plastno cleaning tablets are PVA-free. PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) is a synthetic polymer used in many cleaning pods and sheets that does not fully biodegrade during wastewater treatment, with up to 61% ending up in waterways as microplastics. Our tablets dissolve cleanly into the spray solution, leaving no plastic film.

What are the sponges made from?

Plastno sponges are plant-derived. The Scrub Sponge pairs cellulose with loofah for a non-scratch scrubbing layer. The Soak Sponge is compressed cellulose that expands in water. The Sponge Cloth and Sponge Towel pair cellulose with organic cotton. Every sponge is plastic-free, biodegradable, and free of polyurethane, polyester, and other plastic foams.

What are the trash bags made from?

Plastno trash bags are made from cornstarch, PLA (polylactic acid), and PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate). Cornstarch and PLA are plant-derived from renewable sources. PBAT is added for strength and to enable composting. The bags are BPI certified for industrial composting and TUV OK Compost HOME for backyard composting.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Our Multi Cleaner tablets are Leaping Bunny certified, the international gold-standard cruelty-free certification. The full product line is vegan with no animal-derived ingredients in the tablets, sprays, sponges, cloths, or trash bags. Nothing in the Plastno catalog is tested on animals at any stage of development.

Are your products fragrance-free?

Yes. Every Plastno product is fragrance-free and scent-free, including the cleaning tablets, sponges, cloths, and trash bags. No essential oils, no synthetic fragrances, no masking agents. The cleaning tablets dissolve into a clear, odorless multi-surface spray for sealed counters, stovetops, tile, and stainless steel.

Do your products contain common allergens?

Plastno cleaning tablets are gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, and latex-free. The sponges and trash bags are also free of these allergens. The full ingredient list for the tablets is published on the Ingredients page so anyone with a sensitivity can review every ingredient before ordering.

Do your products have a shelf life?

Different products, different windows. Compostable trash bags last 12 months from the production date printed on the box. Unopened cleaning tablets last 2 years from the production date; once the tablet wrapper is opened, use within 6 months for full effectiveness. Sponges and cloths have no expiration and stay stable indefinitely when stored dry.

What is your packaging made of?

Plastno's outer shipping boxes are plastic-free recyclable cardboard. Product wrappers and inserts are paper-based and curbside recyclable. The cleaning tablet wrappers are paper with a thin aluminum inner liner, both curbside recyclable. The packaging is plastic-free; the products themselves are what compost or biodegrade at end of life.

What certifications do you hold?

Plastno holds two product-level certifications today. The compostable trash bags are BPI certified (industrial composting) and TUV OK Compost HOME certified (backyard composting). The Multi Cleaner tablets are Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free. Each is an independent third-party certification. Additional brand-level certifications are in progress.

What does BPI certified mean?

BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute) is the most recognized compostable certification in North America. A BPI certified product is tested against ASTM D6400 standards and verified to break down completely in an industrial composting facility within 90 days. Plastno's trash bags are BPI certified.

What does TUV OK Compost HOME mean?

TUV OK Compost HOME is an independent certification that verifies a product can fully break down in a backyard compost bin, where temperatures are lower than at industrial facilities. Plastno's trash bags hold this certification, meaning they are home compostable as well as industrial compostable.

What does Leaping Bunny certified mean?

Leaping Bunny is the international gold-standard cruelty-free certification, verifying no animal testing at any stage including ingredient sourcing. Our Multi Cleaner tablets carry the certification today. The sponges, cloths, and trash bags follow the same no-animal-testing standard internally but aren't separately certified yet. Nothing in the Plastno catalog is tested on animals.

Are your trash bags actually compostable?

Yes. Plastno trash bags are certified compostable by two independent organizations: BPI for industrial composting (90-day breakdown at facility temperatures) and TUV for home composting (slower breakdown at backyard temperatures). The bags are made from cornstarch, PLA, and PBAT, all engineered to compost under either condition.

Can I compost the bags at home?

Yes. Plastno trash bags are TUV OK Compost HOME certified, meaning they are designed to break down in a backyard compost bin. They are also BPI certified for industrial composting, so they work in municipal compost programs and commercial pickup services where available.

What happens if the bags end up in a landfill?

Plastno bags function like any trash bag for everyday use: fill, tie, and toss. Composting (home or industrial) is the certified end-of-life environment. Are your sponges compostable?

Plastno sponges are biodegradable, not certified compostable. The cellulose, loofah, and organic cotton materials break down in soil, but we don't currently hold a third-party compostable certification on the sponge line. At end of life, sponges can be cut up and added to a backyard or municipal compost where accepted.

Do I need to compost your products to use them?

No. Plastno products work like their conventional counterparts in everyday use. Compostable trash bags fill, tie, and toss like any trash bag. Cleaning tablets dissolve into a regular multi-surface spray. Composting is the certified end-of-life environment for the bags and sponges, but the products do not require it for normal use.

How do the cleaning tablets work?

Drop one Plastno cleaning tablet into the Multi Cleaner spray bottle, add 16 oz of room-temperature water, and let it dissolve for 20 to 30 minutes. The result is a multi-surface cleaning spray for sealed counters, stovetops, stainless steel, sealed tile, and sealed wood. One tablet equals one full bottle of cleaner.

What surfaces can I clean with the tablets?

Plastno's Multi Cleaner spray is safe on sealed countertops, stovetops, sealed wood, and sealed stone including marble, granite, quartz, travertine, and terrazzo. Skip mirrors, windows, glass, and any floors. The formula isn't designed for streak-free glass cleaning or floor mopping. Avoid unsealed natural stone, where any cleaner can cause etching.

How long does one cleaning tablet last?

Once dissolved into a bottle, the spray stays effective for 1 to 6 months depending on how often you use it. After about 6 months, the formula starts to lose strength. The fix: only dissolve a tablet when you're ready to use the bottle, and store unused tablets sealed in their wrappers for full 2-year shelf life.

Can the sponges go in the dishwasher?

Plastno sponges are dishwasher safe on the top rack, including the Scrub Sponge, Soak Sponge, Sponge Cloth, and Sponge Towel. Running them through a wash cycle every few days helps lift buildup and extends useful lifespan. Air dry between uses and replace when the sponge starts to fray or thin.

How long do the sponges last?

Plastno sponges typically last 2 to 6 months with regular use, depending on the surface and how often the sponge is dishwasher-cleaned or air-dried. Heavy scrubbing in a kitchen wears a sponge faster than gentle counter wiping. When the sponge fully frays, it is biodegradable at end of life.

How should I store the trash bags?

Store Plastno trash bags in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Heat and humidity accelerate breakdown of the cornstarch, PLA, and PBAT materials before they reach the bin. With proper storage, the bags hold their 12-month shelf life from the production date.

Can the bags hold liquids and wet trash?

Technically yes, but we strongly recommend keeping it to dry trash. Heavy moisture accelerates breakdown of the cornstarch, PLA, and PBAT materials before the bag reaches the bin, which means less durability and a higher chance of tearing. Mildly damp items are fine. Wet food waste, soaked paper towels, and anything dripping should go in a compost bin instead.

Can your bags be used for recycling?

Most curbside recycling programs require loose recyclables or specific designated bins, so any trash bag (compostable or plastic) is typically not accepted for recyclable contents. Check the local program's instructions. For compostable household waste and food scraps, Plastno bags are designed exactly for that purpose.

What is the Plastno Subscription program?

How do I edit, pause, or cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through the customer account portal at plastno.com, with options to change cadence, skip a shipment, pause, or cancel. No phone call or email is required. Changes apply to the next scheduled shipment as long as they are made before the cutoff date shown in the portal.

What is the Plastno Membership?

How do Membership discounts apply to bundles and sets?

Where do you ship?

Plastno ships across the United States to all 50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico, including PO Boxes via USPS. We also ship to Canada. US shipping is free on orders $50 and above, and Members get free shipping on every order regardless of cart size. Full details on the Shipping Policy page.

How much does shipping cost?

US shipping is free on orders over $50. For orders under $50, shipping is weight-based: $4 for orders under 0.5 lb, $6 for 0.5 to 1.5 lb, and $8 for over 1.5 lb. Canadian shipping is also weight-based ($6 / $9 / $12 CAD by the same weight tiers). Plastno Members get free shipping on every order regardless of cart size or weight.

Is shipping carbon-neutral?

Yes. Every Plastno order ships carbon-neutral. Shipping carbon emissions for each delivery are offset through verified carbon programs. The carbon-neutral commitment applies to every order, not only Membership or subscription orders. No add-on cost is passed to the customer.

How long does shipping take?

Plastno processes orders within 1 to 2 business days, Monday through Friday. US delivery typically takes 5 to 8 business days from shipment via USPS or UPS depending on destination. Canadian orders take 6 to 10 business days. A tracking link is emailed automatically once the order leaves our warehouse and the carrier picks it up.

How do I track my order?

An order confirmation email is sent immediately after checkout. A second email with the tracking link goes out once the order ships, typically within 1 to 2 business days. New tracking numbers can take 24 to 48 hours to activate with the carrier. If tracking is not active after 48 hours, contact us.

My order shows delivered but I didn't receive it. What should I do?

Carriers occasionally mark a package as delivered up to 3 business days before it actually arrives. Check around the delivery address (front porch, mailbox, neighbors, building manager) and wait 3 business days. If the package still hasn't arrived, contact us and our Customer Experience Team will open a carrier trace.

My order is stuck in transit. What should I do?

Carriers occasionally hold packages without scanning them for several days. If tracking hasn't moved in 5 business days, contact us with the order number and our Customer Experience Team will open a carrier investigation. We keep the order tracked until it arrives or arrange a reshipment.

I didn't receive my order confirmation email. Where is it?

Order confirmation emails send within minutes of checkout. If nothing arrives, check the spam or promotions folder. Add hello@plastno.com to your address book or safe-sender list so future emails land in the inbox. If still missing, contact us for manual confirmation.

Plastno returns, refunds, and order changes

Do you accept returns?

Plastno accepts returns within 15 days of delivery, plus another 15 days to ship the item back. Unopened, unused items in original packaging are eligible. Once opened, cleaning tablets, sponges, cloths, and waste bag rolls are final sale. Members get free return shipping; non-members pay a flat $8 return fee.

How much does a return cost?

Non-members pay a flat $8 return shipping fee, deducted from the refund. Plastno Members get free returns with no deduction. Damaged or defective items are replaced free without needing a return. Email a photo to hello@plastno.com within 7 days of delivery and we'll ship a replacement.

How do I start a return?

Contact our Customer Experience Team with the order number and reason for the return. We'll confirm eligibility, generate a prepaid return label, and email it back within one business day. Returns must be initiated within 15 days of delivery, with another 15 days to ship the item back.

When will I get my refund?

Once our warehouse receives the return, we issue the refund to the original payment method within 5 to 7 business days. Bank or card processing can add a few more days before the refund appears on your statement. Original shipping fees are non-refundable. Store credit is faster if you'd prefer it.

Where is my return?

If our warehouse confirmed receipt of the return but the refund hasn't posted within 5 to 7 business days, contact us with the order number and the return tracking number. Our Customer Experience Team will trace the return and expedite the refund.

Can I modify or cancel an order?

Plastno ships most orders within 1 to 2 business days, so modifications and cancellations are time-sensitive. Contact us immediately after placing the order with the order number and the requested change. If the order has already shipped, the change must be handled as a return.

Something is missing from my order. What should I do?

Contact us within 7 days of receiving the order. Include the order number and which product is missing. Our Customer Experience Team will verify the warehouse pick record and either ship the missing product separately at no charge or refund the difference.

My order arrived damaged. What should I do?

Email hello@plastno.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the damage. We'll ship a free replacement at no charge, no return needed. This applies to broken bottles, torn packaging, missing components, and any product that arrived unusable. Our Customer Experience Team handles every damage claim personally.

Plastnofy is an AI-powered cleaning app on iOS and Android. Instead of writing a to-do list, you snap a photo of any chore and the app tracks what needs cleaning and shares sustainable cleaning tips for each one. Do I need to create an account to place an order?

No. Guest checkout is available on every order. Creating a Plastno account makes it easier to track shipments, manage subscriptions, view order history, and access Membership benefits if applicable. Use the same email at account creation and checkout to keep order history connected.

How do I reset my account password?

Click the human icon at the top right of plastno.com, choose log in, and select "Forgot password." A reset link is emailed to the address on file within a few minutes. If no email arrives within 15 minutes, check the spam folder or contact us for help.

How is my personal information handled?

We don't sell your personal information for money. Order details, addresses, and contact info are used to fulfill orders, run subscriptions, and provide support through our Customer Experience Team. Marketing data may be shared with advertising platforms like Meta and Google for ad personalization, which California, Quebec, and similar-law residents can opt out of via the footer link or by emailing hello@plastno.com with subject "Opt Out." There's no chatbot on the website because we want every customer to talk with someone who can actually help. Responses come within 24 business hours.
