Where you keep your cleaning supplies affects how long they last and how likely you are to actually use them. A little organization keeps tools dry, keeps a small kit tidy, and means you never buy a duplicate of something you already own. Here are simple storage ideas that work in any home.

Start by keeping the kit small

The easiest storage solution is having less to store. A handful of reusable multitaskers covers most of a home, so you are not finding room for a dozen half-used bottles. Pare down to what you use, and storage gets simple on its own.

Let tools dry so they last

Most cleaning tools wear out faster when they stay wet. Hang or stand sponges and cloths so air reaches every side rather than leaving them in a damp pile. A small hook, a bin with a vented bottom, or a rail on the inside of a cabinet door all help things dry between uses, which keeps them fresher and longer-lasting.

Make a grab-and-go caddy

Keep your core kit in a single tote or caddy you can carry room to room. It saves trips, keeps everything in one place, and means cleaning starts the moment you pick it up instead of gathering supplies from three rooms first.

Use the space you have

  • Under the sink: a tension rod lets you hang spray bottles by the trigger, freeing the floor of the cabinet for bins.
  • On the door: an over-the-door rack or adhesive hooks add storage with no drilling, which is ideal for renters.
  • By point of use: keep bathroom supplies in the bathroom and kitchen ones in the kitchen, so the right tool is always within reach.
